SAMPLE ACTIVITIES LISTS
PRIMES
| DAILIES
Primes are instructional activities chosen at the beginning
of a two-week session and attended every day of that
session. Dailies change from day to day and are chosen
for that day only.

ILC knows something other organizations
may not: Every kid is a natural show-stopper. Every
single one. All of them get the chance at ILC - if they want
- to find that out. In fact, they find it out every two weeks.
Performance days are rich with small experimental and improv
exhibitions, Shakespeare a la ILC, and (did you doubt it?)
Big Broadway Musicals.
MAGIC is an underground ILC favorite. It's
rather insidious, and once you start, doing magic is addictive.
Campers roam the dining hall making dimes disappear from pea
soup and reappear from behind ear lobes. Parents are forced
to spend most Visiting Days "picking a card, any card."
That's okay. Magic is great for fine motor coordination, turns
the shyest campers into performers, and teaches even the loosest
lips to not give away…the secret of the pharaohs!
Serious dancers are a special breed. They
want no vacation from their passion; on the contrary, they
need to be able to devote a portion of summer to daily practice
in order to return to the barre in September in decent shape.
Campers who have never danced before - or who have stayed
away from formal lessons because they include mega-recitals
enforced at gun-point - are an equally special breed. They
only await a few encouraging hints, the rhythm which speaks
to them, and an atmosphere of acceptance and enthusiasm. Then
they move to the music, and never stop. ILC attracts great
dance counselors and dance-loving campers. We're not quite
sure why this is, but we're guessing that the same spirit
who loves creative freedom within the context of choreography
is also jumping at the opportunity to create her/his own summer
within the context of excellent instruction and support.
